Show us something dangerously cute.

Take a picture of something that made you smile.
Here are two things that made me smile. The first was my little project last weeekend. I finally put pictures in the frames that we received as gifts when Zach was born. I really enjoyed taking the time to sort through all of his pictures and pick out the ones to print and put in frames.
The second pic is a picture of Zach having his breakfast at day care this morning. He was in such a great mood this morning that I really didn't want to leave. He was all smiles, which in turn, made me smile. Nothing else can make me smile the way he can.
Shortly after I drug myself out of bed this morning I heard the phone ring. I thought it was unusual because we don't normally get calls that early, but went to see who it was. It turns out that it was Zach's baby-sitter (although she prefers to be called a day care provider). She woke up this morning with pink eye and wanted to warn me before we showed up.
So, after a quick shower, I packed up the diaper bag, portable dvd player, Laurie Berkner dvd, and a bag full of toys and took Zach to the office with me. It took him all of 10 seconds to destroy my office. Fortunately, I finally got ahold of my sister who agreed to come pick him up for the day. Hooray for teachers having the summer off!
My older nephew had swimming lessons today so she took Zach and his 18-month-old cousin swimming too. She sent me this cute pic of them in the pool together. I bet Zach is having a lot more fun spending the day with his aunt and cousins than he would have at day care!
Shortly after Zach was born, we discovered that he was a big fan of music. Every time we would turn some music on, his little face would just light up. As he got a little bit older, he started bouncing or "dancing" to the music. Then he started to tap his hand to the beat. Seriously, the boy is one year old and can stay right on tempo.
When he was about 6 months old, I discovered Jack's Big Music Show on Noggin. He would get so excited every time it came on. He absolutely loved the music and soon we were all singing along to Laurie Berkner and the other groups.
Then one day he discovered that Daddy and I had guitars like the ones he saw on TV and he got so excited. If one of us starts playing and he isn't in the same room he absolutely freaks out. He has to be right there and wants to be plucking the strings right along with us.
That is why we decided he needed his own guitar. A friend of mine bought him his own little Zach-sized guitar for his birthday and he has barely put it down since. The first night he had it he threw a 30-minute tantrum because I took it away from him to give him a bath. I really think he's going to become a musician some day. I would hate to think that it is just a phase!
Today is my son's first birthday. I
absolutely cannot believe how fast a year has whizzed by. I can't
help thinking about how anxious I was for him to arrive one year
ago. Sitting in that hospital bed I never could have imagined how
much he has changed me and my whole outlook on the world. My life
is so amazing with him in it.
I am back at work today after a 10-day vacation where I packed in a
trip to Phoenix, a wedding, a class reunion, and my son's first
birthday party. I am exhausted but had a great time. As
soon as I catch back up at work, I'll be back here posting on a regular
basis. I have almost 1000 pictures to sort through and I can't
wait to show off Zach's smooshy cake pictures!
